Hazlegrove is an exceptional co-educational full boarding and day school for children between 2–13. The school enables children to be children and is committed to celebrating childhood. As part of the Hazlegrove school, the children have access to an amazing array of resources including a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, theatre, dance studio, outdoor classroom, extensive sports pitches and even their own go-kart track.
Alongside the superb facilities, there is a dedicated and passionate team of teachers who help the children to achieve across the board. Both past and present pupils have gained Great Britain selection in a wide range of sports – hockey, riding, rowing, laser run, triathle, biathle, cricket and pentathlon. The Music Department is thriving, offering a wealth of opportunity both in and out of the classroom. Children are introduced to a wide variety of musical styles and cultures through creative classroom and instrumental teaching, from traditional classical and jazz to rock, pop, rap and dance music.
What makes the school unique is the fact that the facilities and settings are enjoyed by a minimum of 60 boarders every weekend, with 100+ boarders, including 20–30 flexi boarders. The popularity of the boarding and the enthusiasm that all of the pupils display comes down to the calibre and dedication of the people who deliver the education and care to the children.
The school has excellent links with a broad range of senior schools; about 60% of Year 8 go to major senior schools such as Bryanston, Eton, Sherborne, Sherborne Girls, Millfield, King’s College Taunton, Radley, Marlborough and Winchester, while around 40% move through to the senior school, King’s School Bruton. Between 25 and 30 scholarships and awards are gained by pupils each year.
