Loughborough High School has been educating brilliant, fearless and forward-thinking young women since 1850 and our aim is to empower every student with the confidence, skills and knowledge to step into the future of her choice, whatever that may be.
We are, first and foremost, a proudly academic school and are consistently ranked amongst the best in the region. More importantly, we are a school with a love of learning at its heart, and we want every girl to feel a sense of awe and wonder through our rich and varied curriculum. On any given day, you will find pupils engrossed in creating beautiful artwork, deciphering ancient Greek texts, designing a space station, pitching a business idea, or performing in our nationally acclaimed Music Department. Our subject specialist staff not only help pupils to achieve academic success but develop in them the critical skills, emotional intelligence and resilience needed to negotiate life in the 21st century.
In 2025, 30% of our A Level students achieved A*, with 64% achieving A*–A. More than 50% of our GCSE students were awarded Grade 9–8 and five pupils achieved the fantastic feat of eight or more Grade 9s. The excellent results are testament to the incredible dedication of our A Level students and the guidance of our subject specialist staff as many of our girls went on to study at top universities, including Oxbridge, University College London, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham and Queen Mary University of London. Several students also embarked upon medicine-related degrees, including Veterinary Science and Dentistry.
Developing the leaders of the future is central to our vision and so much at LHS is led by students themselves, from whole-school assemblies to our vibrant Culture Week, Arts Night and the student wellbeing committee. Girls take the lead in the co-curricular life of our school, too, whether running one of our many lunchtime clubs, directing younger students in a play, or leading their team to national success in sport. At LHS, pupils are surrounded by inspiring female role models, whether that’s fellow pupils, staff members or returning alumnae, enabling them to reach their full potential, explore their passions and create lifelong memories.
Loughborough High School is part of The Loughborough Schools Foundation, a Foundation of three schools and a nursery which operate under one governing body. This means that our girls benefit from exceptional shared facilities, including our state-of-the-art Music Department, cutting-edge STEM resources, Combined Cadet Force opportunities, a team of outstanding educators, diverse co-curricular programmes, excellent sports facilities, top-level coaching, nutritious catering, and a comprehensive transport service within our extensive catchment area.
