Founded in 1964, Moor Park is an IAPS, Catholic, co-educational boarding and day school accepting children from 3 months to 13 years of age. A family atmosphere pervades, resulting in happy, rounded and grounded children.
Children often start at Moor Park in the Tick Tock Nursery (from 3 months) located at the heart of the school, which provides a secure environment for our very youngest children. The learning environment (inside and outside) is maximised to allow real potential for exploration and creativity. The children transfer to the Pre-Prep Kindergarten in the term that they turn 3, where they are carefully prepared to start more formal schooling by a team of well-qualified and caring staff.
All our children make full use of the 85 acres of stunning grounds, but Moor Park is not just about getting muddy and exploring. Our schemes of work and teaching methods from Nursery to Year 8 have been designed to deliberately encourage the thinking skills, as well as the knowledge, that young people will need in a fast-changing world. Creativity, curiosity, critical thought, confidence, independence and resilience are all deliberately fostered, and the results are plain to see. In the last five years, our leavers have won over 100 scholarships to senior schools, and this from a non-selective intake. Being a truly independent school has helped our children gain entry to the full range of schools nationally, and these scholarships include academic and extracurricular awards to some of the top senior schools in the country.
It is also worth saying that Moor Park is emphatically not simply an academic hothouse and is a school where children of all abilities thrive. All of this is underpinned by a carefully maintained culture of kindness which ensures that all children are valued for who they are. Passionate teachers and an average class size of around 14 also make a difference, with specialist staff offering extracurricular activities throughout the school.
The Head, James Duffield, is an old boy with high aspirations and a passion for ensuring that every child has a chance to reach their potential while enjoying the wholesome, well-rounded education that Moor Park offers.
Not every child can be good at everything but every child can be good at something, and finding that something for every child we take seriously. Moor Park’s facilities and, more importantly, enthusiastic and dedicated staff, ensure that the school is well placed to get the best out of every child.
Moor Park – more than just a school!
