Bedford Greenacre Independent School was formed by the merger of Rushmoor School and St Andrew’s School in May 2021. Both schools had long histories in Bedford of over a century. The final part of the merger was the move to a purpose-built campus, allowing all pupils from Reception class to Year 13 to come together on one site, unique in Bedford. The School also runs a separate nursery provision.
Bedford Greenacre Independent School has won national awards from the Independent Schools Association for its learning support provision, EYFS provision and sports provision, as well as for financial innovation.
The school is non-selective and fully co-educational. Its value added scores (the progress a child makes from starting at BGI to finishing) are consistently high and it strives to cater for the individual, allowing them to unleash their true potential.
Bedford Greenacre Independent School prioritises the individual wellbeing of each pupil, believing that a healthy mindset is vitally important for success, seeking to discuss any student concerns honestly and help to plot a future pathway which gives them the best chance of happiness, security and success (in that order).
As a non-selective school, catering for all abilities, the school has a strong reputation for supporting those with SEND ensuring each individual achieves their best.
In January 2025, the school moved to a 40-acre semi-rural location which provides more space and the design draws inspiration from the Forest School ethos. The building is innovative, optimising the natural light, using sustainable energies and maximising the outside space, which is beneficial to the wellbeing of the pupils.
The School has a nurturing approach and shapes teaching methodology to create a strong sense of community, with the latest inspection report highlighting the strength of parental communication. To find out more, please visit our website www.bedfordgreenacre.co.uk. Prospective parents and children can tour the school at any time and ‘taster days’ can be arranged. Come and experience our caring ethos which enables our children to develop the confidence and flexibility which allows them to face the demands of modern life.
