St Mary’s School Hampstead provides an outstanding and inspirational Catholic education to girls from 2 years 6 months to 11 years, with boys also welcome in Pre-Nursery and Nursery.
St Mary’s empowers girls through academic excellence and moral integrity to become confident, resilient and caring leaders of the future.
The School aims to instil four key habits of learning in their pupils and celebrates the uniqueness of every girl and their achievements. The children are encouraged to be risk-takers, not only in their play, but also in their learning. They are also taught to be resilient and not to fall at the first hurdle. Staff ask the children to make mistakes, as through the process of challenging themselves they make more academic progress and, in turn, excel not only in the classroom but in their own self-confidence. The girls at St Mary’s School are respectful, not just of each other, but of themselves. Finally, pupils are encouraged to be reflective on their faith, behaviour and academic work.
The School is home to inspiring and spacious learning spaces, blending tradition with innovation. The Global Learning Centre is a cutting-edge space that includes an Engineering and Robotics Lab, Virtual Reality Launch Pad, Art and Design Studio as well as a Green Room.
The focus on technology, with iPads and Google Chromebooks accessible for every child, is equally balanced with an emphasis on creative and physical development. Music, Drama, Art and Sports are an essential part of school life and involve everyone. The unique and extensive outdoor area allows girls the space to breathe and consists of climbing equipment and a full-size netball court which affords every girl the opportunity to take part in football, tag rugby, netball, cricket and tennis. The School was ‘Highly Commended’ for Outstanding School Sport at the ISA Awards 2024.
St Mary's was rated in the Top 5 UK Prep Schools in 2025 (Catholic Good Schools Guide), and commended for Small Independent School of the Year 2026.
