Stratford Preparatory School is a Co-Educational Independent Day School for 4–11-year-olds (with Little Prep nursery for 0–4-year-olds) in the heart of Stratford-Upon-Avon. The school first opened in 1989 and quickly established itself as an exceptional preparatory school. Since then, Stratford Preparatory School has upheld a family-orientated, caring environment where children excel academically. Known for the outstanding success rate at 11+, Stratford Preparatory School achieved this through being proudly small, providing excellent-quality teaching, and supporting and developing each child.
In May 2023, Stratford Preparatory School was acquired by Newman Schools Ltd and is the sister school to Arnold Lodge in Leamington Spa. Significant investment has allowed the school to go from strength to strength and continue to serve the children in the school community. From our youngest pupils in Little Prep Nursery through to our eldest in Prep 6, Stratford Prep continues its tradition of providing a high-quality education in an environment where pupils are happy, safe and confident.
The school offers exceptional pastoral care and attention to personal development which is supported by our commitment to small class sizes. Our Physical Education programme offers a broad variety of activities, including hockey, football, tag rugby, cross-country, tennis, cricket, netball, and athletics. Pupils also enjoy weekly indoor swimming lessons. Our teachers and coaches take a child-centred approach, focusing on creating meaningful experiences both on the field and in the classroom. This ensures every activity feels special, memorable, and tailored to each child’s unique journey.
There are opportunities for the children to learn a variety of musical instruments with peripatetic teachers. The school has a choir and an orchestra, supported by our specialist music and drama teacher. Other specialist teachers include Art & Design and French who take the children for independent classes separately to their class teacher.
The main school offers a broad, balanced learning plan adapted to the individual needs of the children using traditional teaching methods and with specific reference to the National Curriculum. Children are prepared for 11+ entry to the local Grammar Schools as well as Senior Independent School entrance examinations.
The Headteacher is pleased to provide further details and meet prospective parents.
