Thorpe Hall School is a co-educational independent day school, comprising a Nursery, Prep and Senior School. The school is pleasantly situated on green belt land on the outskirts of Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The buildings are modern and purpose built and provide extensive facilities for all children to use, from age 2 to 16.
Connections to London are good via the A13 and A127 and the Liverpool/Fenchurch Street railway lines. The nearest station is approximately 10 minutes’ walk.
Founded in 1925, the school has been educating children for 100 years and consistently achieves excellent academic results with special emphasis being placed on enabling every child to outperform in every aspect of school life. The ‘Expect More’ philosophy is a cornerstone of the high-quality educational offering.
Thorpe Hall School has won many awards for its excellence and innovation over the years. The school has grown significantly in the last few years and this trend has accelerated with the school’s excellent reputation in academics, sport, music, art, performing arts and modern, future ready technologies.
The school runs over 100 free clubs each week, including Forest School and Beach School sessions. Specialist teaching starts in Nursery, and from Year 5 it is 100% specialist teaching. In the Prep school, pupils work ahead of the National Curriculum, and enjoy specialist teaching in many subjects.
In the Senior School, GCSE results are consistently good and outstrip national norms every year. The school runs a unique selective grammar educational pathway from Year 4 to Year 11. 11+ results are exceptional. Over a third of all GCSE leavers move on to local grammar schools for Sixth Form and around 80% of leavers go to university 2 years after leaving.
The Charitable Trust status enables fees, which are very competitive, to be kept competitive. Nursery vouchers are accepted and some scholarships are available. The School is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
