The School is set in a stunning country-house environment in the village of Witham-on-the-Hill, near the Lincolnshire–Rutland border, just seven miles from Stamford. Boarding is highly popular, with weekly and flexible options available from Year 4, and benefits from first-class provision within the original Queen Anne house, which sits at the heart of the school.
The teaching staff comprises 45 members, supplemented by visiting instrumental music teachers. Class sizes are capped at 19 pupils, who benefit from excellent pastoral care throughout the school. Most pupils join at the Pre-Prep stage and continue their education through to Common Entrance. Pupils progress to their senior schools of choice, both locally – such as Oundle, Oakham, Uppingham, and Stamford – and further afield, including prestigious schools like Eton, Rugby, Marlborough, Repton, Gresham’s and Stowe. The School boasts a proud and impressive scholarship record across a broad range of disciplines, including Academics, Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
The School’s facilities are outstanding, with modern, purpose-built teaching areas for both Prep and Pre-Prep pupils. A superb Sports Centre houses a Dance/Drama Studio with Fitness Suite, while additional highlights include ICT suites, a treehouse with adventure playground, and a newly developed Games Room. The Stimson Hall, serving as both concert hall and theatre, reflects the school’s strong commitment to Performing Arts. Most children learn at least one instrument, sing, or take part in Drama, supported by a dedicated team of visiting specialists who run an extensive programme of weekly ensembles. These include five choirs and eight instrumental groups, such as rock band, string orchestra, and drum ensemble. Regular concerts and assemblies give ample performance and listening opportunities.
Sport is inclusive and thriving; all Prep pupils represent the school each term, with a high standard of competition. Teams frequently reach National Finals in rugby, hockey, netball, and cricket. The grounds feature an Olympic-sized, all-weather Astroturf, meticulously maintained grass pitches, county-standard cricket facilities – including brand-new outdoor cricket nets – and a nine-hole golf course.
The School has experienced significant growth in recent years, and early registration is recommended in most year groups.
