Ethos and values
All Hallows Prep is a well-established school which forms part of the Monkton Family of Schools. This allows All Hallows the independence to lead an education framework which is believed to give children the best start of their education, as well as the security that comes from being part of a larger collective of schools. All Hallows is dedicated to nurturing the all-round development of every child within the school.
The school’s vision and ethos have always revolved around the inspiration of young minds, empowering them to unlock their full potential. Our approach places a strong emphasis on happiness and wellbeing, serving as the cornerstone of our educational philosophy.
Carving their own curriculum
The school maintains high academic standards across a diverse spectrum of subjects, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning, whether in the classroom or outdoors. A passionate staff team collaborates closely with parents to prepare children for the ever-evolving world they are destined to grow up in. Starting from Nursery age and beyond, pupils have access to a vast and diverse curriculum. Pupils can explore creative design through robotics, acquire survival skills in Forest School, engage in swimming lessons, explore music, learn modern foreign languages, and build strong foundations in traditional core subjects such as English, Maths and Science. All Hallows values the input of its pupils, who have a voice in shaping the curriculum and campus.
Extensive focus on co-curricular
All Hallows offers a wide array of co-curricular opportunities through an extensive after-school and Saturday enrichment programme. This programme includes activities like clay-pigeon shooting, swimming lessons, tennis coaching, drama productions, Forest School sessions, art workshops and creative design lessons, golf and music, among others. It’s a school supporting children in discovering their unique interests and passions, encouraging them to embrace their individuality, creativity, and what makes them unique.
Boarding at its best
Our family-orientated boarding house is dedicated to creating a positive and welcoming home-away-from-home. The school offers a blended approach to boarding, accommodating both full-time boarders and day pupils, enriching the All Hallows experience for all. Supported by parents and an experienced residential team, children can settle into boarding life, have fun, build lasting friendships, and enjoy their childhood, all while experiencing the independence of living away from home. With an average of 40 boarders at any given time, boarders quickly get to know one another as well as their boarding parent, supporting them so they quickly feel at home.
All Hallows’ extensive and diverse programme of weekend trips, including activities like hosting their own ‘mini Glastonbury Festival’, sailing at the UKSA, visits to the historic city of Bath, attending local sports matches, ice-skating day trips and so much more, ensures there’s something for everyone to look forward to, fostering the growth of their boarding family and ensuring lifelong memories.
Nursery and Reception – building foundations
Our All Hallows Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Nursery and Reception classes are ideally situated side by side at the heart of the school. These dedicated indoor and outdoor spaces provide children with a joyful, calm, safe, stimulating and fun environment. By being part of a prep school, our children benefit from access to specialist teaching staff in subjects such as Music, Art, Forest School, Sports and Activities. They also have access to all prep school resources and facilities, including All Hallows’ nine-acre woodland for Forest School, on-site Tennis Academy, Creative Design Centre, swimming pool, and various music and sports facilities. The School’s teaching approach is rooted in a play-based curriculum, guided by children’s interests, supplemented by adult-led activities drawing upon specialist expertise, ensuring the best possible outcomes through a holistic approach.
Sports – excelling both on and off the pitch
All Hallows has a rich tradition of regional and national sporting success, both as a team and at an individual level. The school’s commitment lies in achieving excellence within a ‘sport for all’ framework. Tennis, in particular, holds a special place at All Hallows, with strong connections to the Tennis Performance Centre at Bath University. Most children engage in traditional team sports at least three to four times a week, with many participating in the Somerset Development Pathway. All Hallows offers a Saturday fixtures and training programme for those in Year 3 and above, allowing pupils to compete against various independent schools across the South-West.
Impressive facilities
The school boasts generous facilities, including a brand-new, all-weather Astro pitch, extensive sports grounds, a 6-acre Forest School, Creative Design Centre, Art Workshop, Swimming Pool, Tennis Academy and a Sports Hall, to name just a few. This, combined with small class sizes and a network of experienced teachers, provides the best possible foundations for your child’s education.
Supporting every step of the way
All Hallows recognises that choosing the right school for your child can be a challenging decision. The School offers support every step of the way, ensuring that each parent’s choice aligns with both their child’s needs and the school’s values.
The decision of moving on to a senior school can have a profound impact on children’s lives. As part of the Monkton Family of Schools, while preserving independence, All Hallows offers valuable guidance and support to help you select the most suitable senior school for your child, whether this be Monkton Senior, or further afield. Children who move on to their chosen senior schools leave All Hallows confident and well prepared to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
