Bedford Modern Junior School enjoys its own purpose-built facilities within the wider Bedford Modern School campus, giving younger students the best of both worlds: a secure, nurturing environment with access to the exceptional resources of the Senior School and Sixth Form. Light, modern classrooms sit alongside specialist spaces for Art, Science, ICT and Design Technology, a well resourced library, and a large Junior School Hall. A dedicated Year 3 area with its own classrooms and playground ensures the very youngest pupils feel safe, supported and ready to flourish from day one.
Set on a beautiful 40 acre site overlooking the Ouse Valley, the Junior School benefits from the extensive Senior School amenities, including playing fields, a sports hall, gymnasium, 30m indoor swimming pool, all weather pitches and the newly built Science Centre featuring dedicated Junior School laboratories. Access to the on-site 300 seat Howard Hall theatre also allows pupils to take part in full-scale drama productions and concerts, nurturing confidence and creativity.
The Junior School has a strong academic foundation enriched by a vibrant programme of sport, music, drama and co curricular activities, helping students discover their talents and develop as well rounded individuals. Our team takes time to know every child thoroughly, ensuring they settle quickly, grow in confidence and feel a true sense of belonging.
Entry is available in all year groups via assessment held in English, Maths and non-verbal reasoning. More details can be found on our website at www.bedmod.co.uk/admissions/entrance-assessments. Most pupils continue seamlessly into the Senior School at 11, benefiting from a smooth, well-supported transition within the same warm and ambitious community.
