Each year, the College offers an inspiring array of educational opportunities through its scholarship programme, allowing talented pupils to achieve distinction and recognition for personal excellence in their chosen field.
Each scholarship has designated scholar leads and senior tutors who are experts in their field, with a wealth of experience in both academic and pastoral positions.
Scholarship candidates should have a love of their chosen subject, showing this throughout the assessment process and at interview. They should be keen to promote their field within the College, and encourage others to enjoy the subject too, setting an example of excellence for their peers.

Clifton College Preparatory School offers an exceptional educational experience for pupils in Years 3 to 8, providing a warm, ambitious and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to Aim High, Be Kind and Be Brave. These guiding values shape every aspect of Prep School life, helping pupils grow into confident learners, compassionate friends and resilient young people.
Every child is known as an individual. Dedicated teachers take time to understand each pupil’s strengths, interests and aspirations, ensuring they feel supported, stretched and celebrated. The curriculum is broad, stimulating and forward‑thinking, encouraging pupils to think critically, explore ideas and develop independence as they progress through the school.
Learning at the Prep extends far beyond the classroom. A vibrant Performing Arts programme gives pupils the chance to shine through drama, music and dance, with regular productions, concerts and performance opportunities at our very own theatre, The Redgrave Theatre, building confidence and creativity. The Prep’s outstanding Sports provision enables every child to participate, compete and grow, with expert coaching, excellent facilities and a wide range of sports that promote teamwork, resilience and physical wellbeing.
A rich programme of clubs and trips further enhances school life. Pupils can explore new passions - from coding and chess to art, languages and outdoor pursuits - while local, national and international trips bring learning to life through real‑world experiences and adventure.
Pastoral care sits at the heart of the Prep School experience. Whether a day or a boarding pupil, every child belongs to a House - which provides a strong sense of belonging, identity and community. The House System encourages teamwork, leadership and healthy competition through events, activities and House challenges that unite pupils across year groups. House staff work closely with pupils and families to ensure every child feels supported, understood and valued, creating a warm and caring environment where wellbeing is prioritised and confidence can grow.
Clifton College Prep welcomes families from across the UK and around the world, offering a supportive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. With a strong sense of community and a commitment to helping pupils discover their strengths, the Prep School provides an inspiring foundation for future success.
The youngest pupils (aged 3–7) learn next door at the Pre-Preparatory School, under the care of their own teachers. (See separate IAPS entry for Clifton College Pre-Preparatory School.)
