Copthorne is a flourishing IAPS Prep School with approximately 260 boys and girls aged from 2 to 13. Children are prepared for independent school scholarships or common entrance. In the last 5 years Copthorne children have been awarded 48 scholarships or awards to a variety of Senior Schools.
We believe that, in order to learn, children must be happy and feel secure in their environment. Copthorne Prep School is full of happy children and the environment is caring but still allows children the freedom to develop as individuals.
The school helps to develop each child’s confidence, to raise self-esteem and to make children feel good about themselves. Nothing does this more than children enjoying success in all areas of school life. This is why art, music, ICT, DT, drama and sport are all just as important as the pursuit of academic excellence.
Copthorne Prep School has developed an outstanding reputation for helping children to realise their full potential. By providing opportunities for all to succeed, children leave us as confident individuals, well prepared for their progression to senior schools of their choice. We inspire all our pupils to become lifelong learners, responsible global citizens and be the very best that they can be.
Our mission is to develop confidence, provide opportunities and realise potential as well as promoting imagination and happiness in our pupils.
The school is very proud of its 120-year history and retains all the important traditions of the past whilst developing a very forward thinking approach. The children receive a child-centred education, where their individual needs come first, in an environment that is parent-friendly, with very high levels of communication and pastoral care.
