Developing confidence and individual talents. Choosing the right senior school is about more than academic results. It is about finding a school that knows your child, understands what makes them an individual, and actively helps them become the very best version of themselves.
At Durlston, Developing Confidence and Individual Talents is not simply an aim. It is what we do every day.
This is the Durlston Difference: we know every child, challenge every child and give every child the opportunities, support and encouragement they need to flourish.
We develop confidence. Confidence does not happen by accident. At Durlston, we deliberately create opportunities for pupils to build it.
Our teachers know their pupils well and understand their strengths, challenges and ambitions. This allows us to provide the right level of challenge, encouragement and support throughout their Senior School journey.
In Years 10 and 11, every pupil has a dedicated staff mentor providing academic and personal guidance. Our pastoral team helps pupils develop resilience, self-awareness and the confidence to take on new challenges.
We want every pupil to leave Durlston believing in what they can achieve, and having the confidence to go out and do it.
We develop individual talents. Every child has individual strengths and talents. Our job is to find them, nurture them and give pupils the opportunity to develop them.
Alongside a strong curriculum, Durlston offers Sport for Life, Art, Drama and Music, enabling pupils to discover interests, develop skills and pursue their talents beyond the classroom.
Our unique LE@D (Life Experiences at Durlston) programme develops practical skills for life including money management, study techniques, careers guidance and everyday independence. Leadership opportunities encourage pupils to take responsibility, support others and contribute positively to their school and wider community.
We deliver academic progress. Our teachers know where each pupil needs to be challenged and where additional support is required. Progress is closely monitored, with targeted additional sessions in Maths, English and Science, helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
The results speak for themselves. Durlston’s 2026 outcomes show that a significant number of pupils exceed their baseline forecasts by up to three full grades (+3), demonstrating the added value of a Durlston Education.
The Durlston difference. Our commitment is simple: we know every child, challenge every child and develop every child.
We provide the teaching, opportunities, encouragement and support that enable pupils to succeed academically, develop their individual talents and grow in confidence.
Our aim is clear: to develop confident young people who recognise their talents, have the skills to use them and the ambition to achieve more than they thought possible.
