Number of pupils: There are currently around 410 day pupils in the school, from Nursery through to Year 11.
Fees per term (2026–2027). Nursery fees start from £2,780 per term for five morning sessions per week, while fees for Year 3 and above are £6,751 per term. Our emphasis on a child-centred well-rounded education ensures that pupils benefit from the highest standards of teaching, both within the classroom and through our broad and enriching wider curriculum. This is complemented by a full and varied after-school programme, available until 6.00 pm, which includes a wide range of creative, sporting and recreational activities. Breakfast Club, available from 7.30 am, and After-School Care are also offered to all pupils.
Our first-class facilities are set within 23 acres of beautiful school grounds. The spacious grounds feature dedicated areas for children of different ages, with Nursery, Junior and Senior School pupils benefitting from their own buildings and age-appropriate facilities, while also enjoying shared spaces across the site. These include a large multipurpose sports and drama hall, a swimming pool, extensive sports pitches, an Astroturf and expansive outdoor grounds. Our youngest children enjoy a variety of play and outdoor learning areas, while all pupils benefit from access to natural spaces that support exploration, wellbeing and outdoor learning.
Investment in the site continues, with the development of our newly established Science Centre, a dedicated student study centre, enhanced Design and Technology facilities, and upgraded dining facilities, ensuring pupils benefit from an outstanding learning environment.
Admission. We are delighted to offer education up to GCSE. Current Kingshott pupils are able to move seamlessly through to join the Senior School.
Kingshott is open to pupils between the ages of 3 and 16, irrespective of gender, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or disability. Entry into Nursery is non-selective, and most children progress naturally into Reception. Early registration is encouraged, as waiting lists are in place for most year groups.
Children joining our Reception classes are invited to attend an informal ‘getting to know you’ session with their parents or guardians. Entry into older year groups, including Year 7 and above in the Senior School, is based on an age-appropriate assessment. For entry into Year 7 and Year 9, Kingshott Honorary Awards are also available in Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
Kingshott is conveniently situated on the outskirts of Hitchin, with ample parking for busy parents. Families join us from across Hertfordshire and beyond – including Letchworth, Baldock, Royston, Ashwell, Stevenage, Luton and Welwyn. The A1(M) motorway is located just two miles from the school. Many pupils use our convenient shuttle bus service from Hitchin station.
Founded in 1931, Kingshott is proud to be part of the Mill Hill Education Group, having proactively joined this charitable collection of independent schools in May 2024.
