An independent Day School for girls and boys aged 3 to 18, founded in 1884.
For 140 years, The Kingsley School has been a place where students can truly flourish. We are proud of our rich history and dedication to providing an exceptional education that prioritises academic excellence, personal growth, wellbeing and a love of learning. We offer a through-school experience, enabling children to join us in our Prep School from the age of three, seamlessly transition to our Senior School in Year 7, and continue their education in our Sixth Form. This provides continuity and stability throughout their formative years, fostering deep, long-lasting relationships and a strong sense of community. Student wellbeing is at the heart of a Kingsley education and our small classes enable us to cater to the individual needs of each student, ensuring personalised learning experiences. Our curriculum, while based on the National Curriculum, is designed to be both broad and adaptable. Our consistent educational philosophy and industry-leading teaching methods support both academic success and personal development.
The Kingsley Preparatory School offers a warm and inclusive community, where each child is nurtured and celebrated. Small classes ensure a personalised learning journey, enabling pupils to excel academically, grow in confidence and develop essential life skills. Academic standards are high, with regular assessment of mathematics and English skills, and pupils consistently achieving well above national expectations at EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our pupils develop a deep connection to the natural world, which complements their classroom learning. Weekly Forest School sessions allow them to explore nature; engage in activities such as bushcraft, den-building and tree-climbing; and foster teamwork, resilience and creativity. We offer a diverse range of sports – including netball, rugby, hockey, swimming, athletics, cricket and more – ensuring that every pupil has the chance to find an activity they enjoy. Our co-curricular programme provides opportunities for pupils to discover new passions and skills; every child is encouraged to embrace their unique interests and participate in a wide range of activities designed to inspire creativity and personal growth. Our comprehensive wraparound care provides a safe and engaging environment before and after school.
The Kingsley Senior School offers a dynamic, nurturing environment where academic success is complemented by personal growth and wellbeing. Students study a broad curriculum spanning English, mathematics, the sciences, arts, humanities and more. All learning is supported by expert teaching and personalised pathways. Our students make excellent academic progress on their journey through the Senior School, and academic attainment is high. In 2024, 35% of GCSEs were graded 9 to 7, and 67% of vocational qualifications were awarded a Distinction or Distinction*, with a 100% pass rate in all subjects. Beyond the classroom, a rich co-curricular programme encourages students to explore a variety of interests, from sports and creative arts to leadership opportunities. We regularly arrange visits and field trips to extend students’ learning, as well as offering opportunities to travel abroad. Our Round Square membership enables students to connect and collaborate with those in other countries, helping them to better understand their place in the world as global citizens. Kingsley students also benefit from being part of the Warwick Schools Foundation, which provides additional resources and opportunities for collaboration with Warwick School and King’s High. Careers advice, university guidance and skills development are integral to the curriculum, ensuring students are well equipped for life beyond Senior School.
The Kingsley Sixth Form combines academic success with the creation of confident, self-motivated and independent young adults. We are proud to offer a wide range of exciting subjects; in addition to the more traditional options, such as the humanities and sciences, students can opt for new subjects such as photography, digital media, politics, sociology, and health and social care. We offer a number of vocational courses, which are equivalent to A levels. Additionally, students can complement their studies with an Extended Project Qualification, Round Square Award or LAMDA and Music examinations. As expected from an exceptional Sixth Form, our students consistently achieve outstanding results. Over the past three years, an impressive 40% of A levels were graded A* to A, significantly exceeding the national average. In 2024, students excelled across both A level and vocational courses, achieving a 100% pass rate in all subjects. Furthermore, 75% of vocational qualifications were awarded a Distinction or Distinction*. We work hard to prepare our students for the responsibilities and freedoms of adult life, building emotional courage and resilience along the way. Our Sixth Formers make excellent leaders, and are encouraged to take active roles within the school community by joining our Sixth Form Leadership Team. Most students go on to attend their first-choice universities, but we also provide expert support for those considering alternative pathways, from degree apprenticeships to global universities.
Our extensive lunchtime and after-school programme offers over 60 clubs each week, including sports, music, drama and wellbeing activities. Students can explore new interests or deepen their skills, with activities catering for different year groups and helping to foster community and collaboration across the school. We are proud to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (Bronze to Gold), with students completing sections in skills, volunteering, physical activities and expeditions. Students in Years 7 and 8 take part in Pathfinder lessons, which include outdoor education and future skills. For those in Years 9 to 13, the Friday Afternoon Activity Programme offers exciting options such as volunteering, new academic subjects, wellbeing activities, indoor climbing, and multiple sporting opportunities in partnership with King’s High and Warwick School. Trips and visits are an integral part of school life, from local excursions to international adventures. Geography-led trips to places such as Norway and Iceland are awe-inspiring, while language immersions and Round Square conferences offer global travel opportunities. Annual ski trips and various day trips enhance the educational experience with hands-on learning and cultural exposure.
Sport and physical education are a key part of life at Kingsley. We believe that taking part in sport fosters a healthy competitiveness, as well as teamwork and cooperation as students support their houses or teams in the fixtures and events that take place throughout the year. Each child is encouraged to achieve their personal best, supported by dedicated and enthusiastic staff. We are very proud of our young athletes, who compete at all levels, including in national competitions across a range of sports, such as equestrian, skiing, football and netball. Our Talented Athlete Programme aims to support our top performers to achieve their absolute best. The programme provides access to regular one-to-one sports mentorship, termly workshops, strength and conditioning training, sports trips, and academic and scholarship support. Our sporting facilities rank amongst the finest in the country. Our new Fitness Suite is equipped with the latest equipment and technology. We are also fortunate to own a 17-acre sports field, comprising a pavilion, football and rounders pitches, and tennis and netball courts. There is provision for a range of athletics including shot, javelin and discus. As part of Warwick Schools Foundation, our students benefit from additional world-class facilities.
Our diverse and inclusive music programme provides students with many opportunities to explore and develop their musical talents. Every Year 7 student learns a musical instrument as part of our Foundation-wide scheme, with instruments provided free of charge for a year and taught as part of the curriculum. Musicians of all abilities can take part in a variety of ensembles, including choirs, string orchestra and swing band, and smaller groups including a recorder consort and flute choir. Performances and concerts are a highlight of the Kingsley calendar, with individual soloists and ensembles performing regularly. Kingsley students can also join Foundation ensembles, including the symphony orchestra, chamber choir, string ensemble and wind orchestra. We are proud to offer the Advanced Musicianship Programme (AMP), encouraging our most talented musicians to reach their full potential and progress into Further Education and career pathways in music.
Our drama provision is vibrant and fun, reflecting our commitment to nurturing creativity and self-expression. From Early Years through to Key Stage 5, our drama curriculum is designed to build confidence and encourage students to explore their unique voices. Regular performance opportunities and school plays enable students to further develop and showcase their skills and achievements. We are pleased to have access to the exceptional facilities at the Bridge House Theatre, offering a professional performance space where students can bring their talents to life.
