Leicester High School for Girls is a thriving independent day school set in three acres of beautiful gardens on the south side of Leicester. Founded in 1906, the School combines a rich history with a forward-looking approach to education. It comprises a Junior Department (ages 3–9) and a Senior School (ages 10–18) on one welcoming campus.
At the heart of Leicester High is the vision that every girl is known, valued, and inspired to be her best. The School is proud of its warm, inclusive community, where girls are supported to develop confidence, resilience and curiosity, and to achieve academic and personal excellence. Teaching is delivered by dedicated subject specialists, and learning is enriched through a wide range of opportunities which encourage leadership, creativity and service.
Enrichment. At Leicester High, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Every girl takes part in at least one club or activity, with options ranging from music, sport and drama to coding, debating and community action. The School’s extensive enrichment programme encourages girls to discover new talents, develop teamwork and leadership, and enjoy a healthy balance between academic study and personal growth.
Our Educate365 programme, developed in partnership with parents, further supports girls in exploring their interests and experiences outside of school. Through volunteering, cultural experiences, and skill-building activities, Educate365 helps each student to grow as a confident, compassionate and well-rounded individual – fully prepared to make a positive difference in the world.
Facilities. The campus blends the charm of the original Victorian house with modern, purpose-built teaching spaces. These include specialist Science laboratories, IT suites, a Drama and Dance studio, Sixth Form centre, and a recently developed Music Centre. The Junior Department enjoys its own hall, library and outdoor learning area.
Leicester High welcomes pupils of all faiths and backgrounds. Entry is selective, with assessments for entry to the Junior and Senior Schools, and Sixth Form places based on GCSE results.
Fees per term (2025–2026). £3,968–£6,438 (incl. VAT).
Extras. Individual lessons in Music, Speech and Drama, Ballet, and Taekwondo.
Scholarships and bursaries. Academic Scholarships for Year 7 entry and means-tested Bursaries are available. The School also offers the Sir Thomas White Sixth Form Scholarship for external candidates from state schools.
The School is part of Leicester High School Charitable Trust Limited, a registered charity (No. 503982), welcoming all who share its values. The Headmaster is a member of the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA), and the School’s Trust is in membership of AGBIS.
Visitors are warmly welcomed. Parents interested in a place are invited to contact the Admissions Manager, who will be delighted to arrange a visit and provide further details.
