Newbridge Preparatory School, founded in 1937, occupies a super site on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, convenient for parents travelling from Telford, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, and Stafford.
The school is divided into Lower School (Pre-Nursery–Year 2) and Upper School (Years 3–6). Upper School is housed in the main building which is a substantial house set in huge, beautiful mature gardens. There are specialist facilities in Art and Design, Computing, Science, Music and PE. The school also has netball, tennis courts and an astro turf pitch.
The staff to pupil ratio is high. Specialist teaching takes place in Key Stage Two in English, Mathematics, Music, Science, French, Computing, PE, Dance and Drama. In Key Stage One: Dance, PE, Music and French.
Lower School enjoys a separate Nursery and purpose built accommodation for Pre-Nursery to Year 2. There is a multi-use sports hall.
Children with Special Needs are well supported and nurtured with 1:1 support and a SENCo.
Upper School pupils take drama and dance and enter examinations. They also enter the annual local festival for Music and Drama.
The school offers a Breakfast Club (7.30 am to 8.00 am), an Early Club (8.00 am to 8.30 am), an After-School Club (3.15 pm to 6.00 pm) and a Holiday Club (8.00 am to 5.30 pm).
Standards are high in all areas of the curriculum. Senior School results are excellent. Places are gained at local selective Independent and Maintained Schools but also Boarding Schools. Sporting, Academic and Speech and Drama Scholarships are attained for entrance into Senior School. Girls leave Newbridge well equipped to face the challenges of a Senior School.
Educational visits and visitors take place each term for Year Reception to Year 6. Nursery children enjoy a Forest School experience. Residential visits occur in Years 3–6. The visits vary but include outdoor activities, mental and physical challenges along with teambuilding exercises.
Emphasis is placed on traditional values, personal development and responsibility. The curriculum is very broad, including many opportunities in Sport, Dance, Drama and Music.
