Year 7 Entry – Scholarships for entry into the Senior School are available in the following areas: Academic, Art, Performing Arts and PE. All girls applying for scholarships will be expected to take our Year 7 Entrance Examinations and achieve the required standard. Scholarship assessments will take place in the same time frame as the Year 7 Application Process. For girls awarded a scholarship, means-tested bursaries are also available up to a maximum of 100% of fees (including any Scholarship award).
Sixth Form Entry - Scholarship applications are considered for certain specific subjects and there is an Academic Scholarship where students must demonstrate strength and breadth across their chosen subjects. In addition to any specific scholarship assessment, all girls applying for scholarships are required to attend a general entrance interview with the Head of Sixth or the Headmistress. Any offer of a place will be based on the entrance interview, in conjunction with a reference from a girl’s current school and predicted GCSE grades. Scholarship assessments take place in the Spring Term. A number of means-tested bursaries are also available for entry to Sixth Form.

At Pipers, from Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form, all girls are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. In our nurturing and encouraging environment, personal development is as important as academic success and every girl is stretched as much outside as inside the classroom. We aim to know each girl as an individual and identify, develop and support her talents and strengths.
Academically successful, our students progress to study further at some of the country’s top higher education institutions. In 2025, almost a third of all A levels achieved top A* or A grades, with over half the year group securing at least one of these highest marks. At GCSE, A quarter of the year group achieved straight 7–9 (A*/A) grades in at least eight subjects, while over half of all results achieved grades 7–9.

Facilities. The School is set within 96 acres of picturesque Chiltern countryside, 4 miles north of High Wycombe and 2 miles from Great Missenden. The Arts Centre is the home of our 280-seat theatre, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting facilities, and a café serving nutritional and delicious food at break and lunch. Sixth Form students benefit from the modern Sixth Form Centre, with a separate quiet study room. Pipers Radio broadcasts live shows and podcasts in our state-of-the-art Radio Academy every day, with students learning the art of running broadcasting, not just from a presenting capacity. Sporting facilities include the sports hall, swimming pool and two all-weather surfaces incorporating amongst other sports hockey, netball and tennis. Wraparound care is available from 7.30 am hours through until 6.00 pm.
Pastoral care. Student welfare and wellbeing is at the forefront of our school: we offer exceptional pastoral care, with an extensive network of support. Our pastoral care is focused on our ability to know each child as an individual. The School offers an environment which promotes self-confidence, a feeling of self-worth, and that students’ worries and feelings are listened to and acted upon. The personalised level of care, which is delivered from the dedicated Pastoral Team – subject teachers, Form Tutor, Head of Year and upwards – means that the students are equipped with the skills to tackle challenges head on, learn from setbacks and have the confidence to try again.
Enrichment. Learning is enhanced with a range of visits and excursions, both nationally and abroad, for Pre-Prep through to Sixth Form. We have a wide variety of extracurricular activities – over 120 clubs and activities throughout the School week – encompassing physical, intellectual and creative pursuits. Our students are encouraged to seize every opportunity afforded to them, to take on leadership and organisational responsibilities and to be open to trying new activities.
School transport. Sixteen coach routes are organised by the School, with recent routes added to service Berkhamsted, Tring and Thame.
Admissions. Girls can join Pipers at the beginning of most year groups, from Reception through to Year 12. The Admissions Team are the first point of contact for enquiries regarding spaces. For most year groups, an interview and day visit or assessment day will form the basis of an offer, subject to the receipt of a satisfactory reference from a current school. Offers are awarded in order of date of registration – so early registration is encouraged.
Scholarships and bursaries. We are keen to encourage girls with talent and potential, and to widen access to allow as many girls as possible to take advantage of the excellent education we provide. Means-tested bursaries are available up to a maximum of 100% of fees (including any Scholarship award). For students considering a Year 7 place, we offer the Jessie Cross Bursary award designed to enable students to attend Pipers who would otherwise not be able to do so. We look for students who will make a positive contribution to our community and are currently educated in a state school setting.
There are Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music and PE scholarships available for Year 7 applicants, which can be awarded alongside means-tested bursaries awards. For Sixth Form entry, there are a large number of subject-specific scholarships on offer, in addition to the broader Academic Scholarships. Students already at Pipers and those from other secondary schools can apply.
