It is situated on the north-western side of Wilmslow, 12 miles from Manchester and within easy reach of motorway, rail and air travel.
The school has highly trained teaching staff, who prepare children for the Entrance Examinations to the Independent Day schools and Grammar schools in the area. A thorough grounding is given in all academic subjects extending well beyond the confines of the National Curriculum. An excellent mixture of traditional and modern techniques is used through the implementation of cutting-edge technology in and around every classroom. In Key Stage 2, each major subject has specialist teaching staff and subject rooms including a fully equipped Science Laboratory, Art Studio, D&T Studio, Maths, English, Information Technology, and MFL rooms. French is taught from the age of 2, Spanish from Kindergarten and German from Year 3.
Pownall Hall School has three pre-school rooms, with children entering the Robin Room Nursery from 6 months old, transferring to the Owls Room at age 2 years, and then to Kindergarten at the age of 3 or 4. From Kindergarten the pupils then enter Reception and go through the school to Year 6, by which point the school will have guided parents as to where best for their child to continue their education at the age of 11.
At Pownall Hall there is an excellent staff to pupil ratio throughout the school, ensuring that pastoral care is of a very high level and also supporting the learning of children of all abilities, in conjunction with a specialist SEND provision. Children are taught in small class sizes, which are capped at a maximum of 18 children per class from Reception to Form 6, gaining from the individual attention they receive.
Great importance is attached to Sport, Music and Drama in order to develop the rounded education that allows all children to achieve, wherever their ability lies. The school has its own well-equipped theatre, dating back to the 1800s, where all children perform on stage during the year. Music is offered as part of the curriculum and also additionally through a full range of peripatetic teaching staff, providing chances for the children to perform in and outside school. As well as subject specialist rooms with an outstanding range of specialist equipment, the implementation of mobile technology for both staff and children provides opportunity for outstanding teaching and learning across the school.

All children experience outdoor learning, with Forest School, extracurricular clubs, day and residential trips arranged, as well as utilising our on-site woods for freeflow teaching and learning at all ages.
