An established co-educational school, it is close to commutable villages like Pangbourne, Theale and Tilehurst, 10 miles from Reading, and offers an excellent network of local buses, including a popular Monday and Friday bus to and from Hammersmith, West London, for those wanting to weekly board.
Set within 54 acres of private wooded estate and parkland, St Andrew’s nurtures happy, grounded and kind children, who are stretched but not stressed, and who leave the School with a zest for learning and for life.
Part of the Bradfield Group, and only three miles from Bradfield College, just under 50% of Year 8 pupils move on to Bradfield for Senior School as day or weekly boarders every year. While a popular choice due to its close links and shared ethos and values, leaver destinations also include Abingdon, Lord Wandsworth College, Marlborough College, Pangbourne College, Radley College, The Downs, The Oratory, Stowe and Wellington College.
St Andrew’s avoids a one-size-fits-all approach to education by offering strong, personalised, academic learning in small classes, alongside outstanding pastoral care, provided by an experienced and dedicated group of staff.
Children can join St Andrew’s Nursery from 2.5 years old and attend for 48 weeks of the year. Holiday camps are hosted by an external provider throughout the school holidays supporting full-time working parents.
In 2023, St Andrew’s adopted the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB), a more holistic and skills-based curriculum, instilled from Nursery, and has been a Microsoft Showcase School – one of only five Prep Schools in the UK to achieve this – for four years.
Design and Innovation was introduced to the curriculum in September 2025, housed in new hubs, and the Performing Arts Centre was opened in the summer. Facilities at St Andrew’s were already impressive – a state-of-the-art Sports Centre with a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, full-size Astro pitch, Forest School, indoor climbing wall, dance studio, library, standalone Music department and Art studio – but with the recent additions, it now tops most Prep Schools.
Charitable status. St Andrew’s School, part of The Bradfield Group, is a Registered Charity, number 309089. It exists to provide education for boys and girls.
