Sherrardswood, founded in 1928, is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 2–18. The School is set in 40 acres of attractive parkland two miles north of Welwyn Garden City. The Prep Department is housed in a beautiful 18th century building while the Senior Department occupies a purpose-built facility. Games fields, tennis courts and woodlands trail are available on the Lockleys site for both departments.
Entry to the school is by interview and individual assessment. A broad curriculum is offered to GCSE level and a very wide range of A level subjects is available. We also offer a number of interesting BTEC courses and recommend our students complete an EPQ.
We pride ourselves on being a successful and ambitious non-selective school where students make excellent academic progress. Our approach is to nurture and ensure that the students are happy and enjoying their time at school. With this ethos, our academic results rival those of other highly competitive local schools.
A huge range of sport and extracurricular opportunities are available, both within the school day and out of school hours. We offer more than 100 different clubs each week. There is a strong focus on music and drama, with performance playing a valuable part in developing the confidence of our students. We are a happy and focused community working together to achieve academic success and an enjoyable school day.
