Scholarship assessments for entry in the September are held in the preceding January although, in certain circumstances, scholarship applications may be considered at other times throughout the academic year.
Categories of scholarship:
Academic: where a student shows exceptional academic ability and potential.
Talent: Art, Drama, Music, Sport.
Sibford School offers the opportunity for prospective students to apply for scholarships on the basis of evidence of exceptional recent achievement, exceptional performance in the scholarship assessment and an interview/trial/audition.
Scholarships are always an honorary award. However, for exceptional pupils, at the Head’s discretion, the award may represent a financial reduction. Support may also be offered for music lessons, LAMDA awards or similar. All awards will be reviewed on an annual basis. Receiving a scholarship does not preclude applications for a means-tested bursary.
Bursaries
Sibford School is committed to helping more young people reach their potential and encouraging them to achieve their aspirations whatever these might be. We offer a limited number of means-tested bursaries which are made available to existing and prospective students from both Quaker and non-Quaker families.
Bursaries are not dependent on particular academic or creative achievement. They are, however, subject to annual testing of parental means and may be varied upwards or downwards depending on parental circumstances. Sibford School’s bursary funds are very limited therefore competition for bursary funding is always strong and only given in exceptional circumstances; simply meeting our financial criteria for a means-tested bursary does not guarantee an award being made.
An independent company, Bursary Administration Ltd (BAL) will review and assess the application and arrange to visit you. Depending on their assessment of your application, the Bursary Committee may propose an award against day fees only (but not on any extra charges).
Applications for bursary assistance are reviewed annually and we will contact existing bursary holders towards the end of Spring term to request updated information. We will also work with BAL during this review process.
