Set in over 40 acres of grounds with views to the Malvern Hills, Winterfold offers excellent facilities which meet the needs of a broad and balanced curriculum. The School is just half an hour from the centre of Birmingham, 10 miles away from Worcester, and a mere 10 minutes from the M5 and M42.
Winterfold is a non-selective school and there are no formal entry requirements or tests. It is a co-educational day preparatory school and children of all faiths are warmly welcomed and made to feel valued members of the community.
The School has an excellent academic record at all levels. There is a highly regarded Learning Support Unit which provides one-to-one help for children with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Pupils continue to Bromsgrove School, assessments take place in Years 5 and 6 which, if successful, will guarantee entry to Year 9 at Bromsgrove Senior School.
Winterfold places a great emphasis upon educating the whole child and aims to produce well-rounded and confident boys and girls with high moral standards and good manners. In order to develop self-belief, every child is encouraged to achieve success in some area and thus, the school fields a number of teams, not just in the main sports of rugby, soccer, cricket, netball, hockey and rounders, but also in sports such as golf, tennis, swimming, athletics, basketball and fencing. There are also a large number of clubs and societies, and regular visits to theatres, concerts and other places of educational interest, providing fullness and breadth to the educational experience. Music and Drama are real strengths of the School and a new Performing Arts Centre is at the heart of Music in the School.
In recent years, there has been considerable investment into the School which has seen the development of a new classroom block with eight new classrooms, state-of-the-art Science labs and Art and CDT rooms. The School also boasts a splendid sports hall, new AstroTurf, hockey pitches and tennis courts, ICT suite, chapel and a library. Adventure playgrounds cater for the demands of the full age range of pupils. A brand new 280-seat theatre and a outdoor learning centre were opened in September 2024.
Charitable status. Winterfold House School is part of the Bromsgrove School family which is a Registered Charity, number 1098740. It exists solely to provide education for boys and girls.
